
Dowell’s future is bright with solar!
Solar energy is saving the Village of Dowell money on electricity! The dollars saved are being reinvested back into the community – from park improvements to filling potholes!
The Village of Dowell has installed two solar projects, at the Village Hall (19.8kW) and Fire Department (8.8kW).
Thanks to these solar projects the Village will save over $3,500 every year in electricity costs!

By utilizing state and federal incentives and grants the Village of Dowell installed these projects without spending a dime.
The Village of Dowell and Carbondale partnered to win a Department of Energy Prize called “Energizing Rural Communities” to help pay for the projects. Two videos were made in the process to win this prize and you can watch them here and here!
A local Southern IL company, A&I Builders from Steeleville, built the solar projects in Dowell.
